Children's Ministry

When you arrive, look for our Kids’ Welcome Center! You’ll be greeted by our staff and volunteers who will assist with registration, or you may pre-register below before your visit. We’ll gather some basic information about your child and family, enter it into the check-in database, and print name-tags and security tags for your family. Our team will lead you to your child’s room and help in any way possible to ensure you and your child have a wonderful experience.

Please notify our team of any allergies or special needs.

Youth Ministry

IMPACT Student Ministry is purposefully targeted towards Middle and High School students in the Venice/Nokomis area. Our mission is for every teen and pre-teen in our community to be growing stronger in their faith with Jesus. We have a youth service every Sunday evening from 6-7:30pm that is fun, challenging, and contributes to their spiritual growth.

Throughout the year we also do mission trips, retreats, camps, and service projects to assist in our growth and put our faith to play. We also do things that are fun and are easy to invite new friends to join.

3 Ways to Connect

1. Text: If you are a teen, text YOUTH to 813-753-9654

If you are a parent, text PARENT to 813-753-9654

2. Sign up to receive emails with information and resources

3. Check out the official Bay Point Youth Facebook Page!

Music Ministry

Mission Statement:

The Mission of the Music Ministry is to please God by providing praise, worship, and music that brings others to Christ.

Vision Statement:

Being lead worshippers in weekly worship services through instruments, song, and the spoken word (1 Corinthians 14:26).

Music lifts our spirits, allows us to express our emotions and inspires us to serve our Lord.

Psalm 89:1 – I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever.

Do you sing or play an instrument?

Join us Wednesdays at 7pm in the Family Life Center and take part in our musical fellowship. The praise  team participates in the 9:00 am service every Sunday as well as special events, concerts, Christmas, and Easter.

For more information about any of our Music Ministry groups, please contact Michele Pruyn, Director of Music & Worship Arts: [email protected] 941-745-0433

Come and share the love of Jesus Christ through music!

Boy Scouts

throughout Florida. Occasionally, during a long 3-day weekend the troop has been able to travel to places further away from home, such as, the Florida Keys, Pensacola, and Alabama. The scouts have also spent the night on the USS Alabama and have toured the National Naval Museum on Naval Aviation.

Troop 1001 attends a Boy Scout Summer Camp annually to learn, build friendships, and earn merit badges. Every two years the Troop schedules a High Adventure Trip. This past summer the Scouts eligible for the trip hiked a portion of the Appalacian Trail.

VNUMC holds a “Boy Scout Sunday” once a year to recognize the members and leaders of Troop 1001. The Boy Scouts participate in this special service by lighting the candles on the altar and reading the responsive reading for the worship service. The Troop also participates in the Veteran’s Day Service to honor the Veterans in the Congregation.

Troop 1001participates in numerous volunteer Service Projects. The Troop has helped out at the In-Stride therapy fundraiser, Relay for Life and other worthwhile community service projects. The Eagle Scout Candidates have successfully completed a number of Service Projects in our community. We currently have over 30 boys who are Eagle Scouts and several more actively pursuing this goal. This is an asset not just to VNUMC Church but also to the community.

Troop 1001 is a self-supporting organization. Our annual fundraisers consist of candy sales, a car wash and selling Christmas wreaths.

Troop 1001 also performs Flag Retirement ceremonies to properly retire the American Flag when it is no longer serviceable as a symbol of our great nation. The Boy Scouts of America is one of the few organizations to be entrusted with this duty. One of our Eagle Scouts was featured on the front page of “Life Scout” for his Eagle project to collect flags that needed to be retired and to do it properly. He received 240 flags!

Scout Oath:

On my honor I will do my best

To do my duty to God and my country

And to obey the Scout Law;

To help other people at all times;

To keep myself physically strong,

Mentally awake, and morally straight.
